Accelerator programs usually have a set timeframe in which individual companies spend anywhere from a few weeks to a few months working with a group of mentors to scale up their business and avoid problems along the way with little focus on technology upgradation. MeitY startup Hub (MSH) has brought in an accelerator program, Startup Accelerator of MeitY for Product Innovation, Development and Growth Scheme, also known as the SAMRIDH Scheme, which will provide startups with a platform to enhance their products and at the same time secure investments for scaling their business. Maker Village is entrusted to nourish eight startups who are into electronics product development and manufacturing through this scheme.

    • SAMRIDH acts as an enabler for the emerging companies/ startups to take their products or solutions from a prototype stage to commercialization.
    • The program will focus on accelerating the startups by providing customer connect, investor connect and internationalization connect services.
    • The scheme will provide support to selected startups with equity funding upto Rs. 80 lakhs [maximum 40 lakhs from Meity and Rs 40 lakhs from a co-investor].
Sector

ELIGIBILITY

    • The applicant should be a citizen of India with possession of a government approved proof of nationality such as a valid passport, voter’s id, AADHAR etc.
    • The applicant should have completed the age of 18 years as on date of application.
    • The startup company should have registered at the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
    • The startup should be using technology that constitute of an electronics product in its core product or service, or business model, or distribution model, or methodology to solve the problem being targeted.
    • The applicant shall possess a minimum educational qualification of graduation in science or technology domain.
    • Shareholding by Indian promoters in the startup should be at least 51% at the time of application to the incubator for the scheme, as per Companies Act, 2013 and SEBI (ICDR) Regulations, 2018.
    • The startup must have a working MVP/POC with a minimum TRL of 3 which is market fit, viable for commercialization, and have scope of scaling.
Roadmap

STRUCTURE OF PROGRAM

    • The program includes onboarding eight startups through screening of received applications.
    • Accelerators shall be tasked with developing customized acceleration programs to fit the needs of each startup in the cohort and provide services ranging from customer connect, investor connect, capacity enhancement, product enhancement.
    • The selected applications will have to undertake mentorship for 6 months in the domain as required for scaling of prototype.
    • After successful completion of the mentorship program, the successful startup will be selected eligible for equity funding.
